Vinci Construction UK has been awarded two contracts by Cheshire West and Chester Council, totalling £100m.

The firm has secured the role of developer/builder partner for the Northgate Phase 2 mixed-use scheme in Chester, in a deal worth £60m.

According to the council, the scheme includes a 3,350 square metre indoor market, restaurants and 1,000 square metres of offices, alongside a new square, arcade and an 800-space multi-storey car park plus a six-screen cinema.

An undisclosed number of residential units will also be built, and connectivity will be improved to the existing Northgate development and the wider Chester city centre.

The contract was awarded via the Pagabo Developer Framework under Lot 3c, and will run from 21 July 2025 to 31 December 2031.

Vinci has also been appointed to deliver the Weaver Square regeneration in Northwich under a separate £40m contract. This contract will run from 15 September 2025 to 31 December 2031.

This scheme comprises 160 homes with a public square and a food hall with small number of shops.

Associated works include sewer systems, landscaping, infrastructure, enabling and access roads.

Subcontractors on the Weaver Square job include Bradley Demolition and Cawarden (plant hire), according to data intelligence provider Glenigan.

The contracts were procured using an open procedure.

The council has not yet named the architects on either scheme.
