Building, roofing and landscaping-products company Marshalls has appointed Simon Bourne as its permanent chief executive officer with immediate effect, following his interim leadership since November 2025.

The company said Bourne would now lead the “disciplined execution” of its transformation and growth strategy, aimed at “strengthening operational foundations to drive sustainable future growth”.

A statement to the London Stock Exchange this morning said the appointment follows was recognition of “his proven ability to drive change and continuous improvement, supporting the Board’s focus on execution”.

Bourne joined Marshalls in 2015 as group operations director. He became chief operating officer and joined the board in 2022, assuming additional commercial responsibilities from 2024.

Prior to joining the building products supplier, he held senior roles in manufacturing and supply chain operations across other sectors, including six years as manufacturing director at Burton’s Biscuits and three years as group director of manufacturing at Betts Group Holdings.

Bourne also sits on the board of the Mineral Products Association.

In November, the firm announced that revenue rose 2 per cent from £535m to £548m in the 10 months to 31 October 2025, in comparison to the same period in the prior year.

That was driven mainly by “good growth” in the water management and mortars sectors, it said.
