JRL Group company Midgard is set to begin construction on a £145m high-rise scheme in central Birmingham, after the project obtained gateway two approval from the Building Safety Regulator.
The contractor has been appointed to deliver the 581-home Edition Birmingham, a two-tower residential development next to Centenary Square in the city.
The scheme is expected to create 300 jobs during the construction phase, including 60 apprenticeships and work placements.
It is valued at £145m by data intelligence provider Glenigan.
Midgard was awarded the contract in May this year.
Designed by Weedon Architects with support from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the development comprises the 15-storey Park Residence and a 150-metre, 46-storey Centenary Tower.
The two towers are scheduled to be completed in 2027 and 2028 respectively.
Facilities in the towers include a rooftop climbing wall, sky lounge, 20-metre swimming pool and a 9,000 square metre shared podium terrace with outdoor cinema and co-working space.
US-based Eldridge Real Estate Credit and PGIM are funding the development.
