Wills Bros Civil Engineering has been named as the preferred bidder for the fourth section of the A9 Dualling Programme between Tay Crossing and Ballinluig.
Scottish Government transport secretary Fiona Hyslop confirmed the £152.7m contract award, which is subject to the successful completion of the statutory standstill period.
The job is part of a wider £257m investment to dual the A9 between Tay Crossing and Ballinluig.
The 8km design-and-build project includes a new side-road network to serve Dowally, Guay and Kindallachan, a new overbridge at Guay South, and an underbridge at Kindallachan. It also features new active travel and path infrastructure.
Work is expected to complete by the end of 2028, at which point 45 per cent of the A9 between Perth and Inverness will be dualled. The procurement route used for this section was not disclosed.
Hyslop said the contract represents continued momentum in the programme, which aims to complete full dualling between Perth and Inverness by 2035. It is the second contract to be awarded since a revised delivery plan was announced in 2023.
Wills Bros will deliver the works using a revised contract model designed to enhance competition and social value, following changes to Scottish infrastructure procurement in recent years.
The client is Transport Scotland, which last August named Wills, Balfour Beatty and Graham as the shortlisted firms for the job.
