Kier Construction has been named as winner of a £35m contract to deliver the Southern Gateway scheme at Bristol Temple Meads station.
Bristol Temple Quarter LLP has chosen Kier under an open procedure to act as main contractor on the project, which forms part of the wider Bristol Temple Quarter regeneration programme.
The contract, valued at £35m including VAT, is scheduled to run from 2 March 2026 to 31 March 2028.
The award decision was made on 11 February 2026, with the standstill period due to end on 23 February.
The earliest contract signature date is 27 February.
The client, Bristol Temple Quarter LLP, is a joint venture between Bristol City Council, Homes England and the West of England Combined Authority.
Network Rail is not a formal member of the LLP but is acting as a delivery partner due to its role in station infrastructure and operational integration.
The Southern Gateway scheme includes construction of a seven-storey multi-storey car park providing car and motorcycle spaces, and a three-storey cycle pavilion with secure Sheffield stands and two-tier cycle parking.
The works also cover new public realm between the car park and cycle pavilion, including hard and soft landscaping and drainage, alongside a new walkway and southern entrance into Temple Meads station.
Highways elements comprise a fully segregated pedestrian footway and two-way cycleway adjacent to Bath Road, a new bus stop with waiting facilities and layby, and a signal-controlled vehicular access junction into the car park.
The scheme also includes a Network Rail service yard and relocation of a rail asset protection facility.
Five tenders were received and assessed at final stage.
Vinci Building, GMI Construction Group, Goldbeck Construction and Huber Parking UK were unsuccessful.
The Temple Quarter programme is one of the largest city centre regeneration schemes in Europe and is intended to improve connectivity and unlock development in the area south of the station.
