The Department of Education (DfE) has issued half a dozen main works contracts, with a combined value of more than £160m, under its £7bn 2021 Construction Framework.
Tilbury Douglas has been appointed to deliver three of the six projects, including a £14.9m deal to build Buckton Fields Primary School in Northampton. It started on site earlier this month and is due to finish in mid-2027.
The contractor also picked up a £3m enabling works job at Baskerville School in Birmingham, which includes temporary accommodation and site preparation ahead of a main phase.
It also won a £13.2m contract to redevelop St Cuthbert Mayne Voluntary Catholic Junior Academy in Torquay, with work running until December 2027.
Bam picked up two contracts. The largest is a £67.9m rebuild of Framwellgate School in Durham. The 32-month contract started in late October and runs until December 2028.
It also won a £30.9m deal for works at Friesland School in Derbyshire. Work there began last month and is scheduled to finish in June 2028.
Bowmer & Kirkland was awarded a £31.7m deal for main works at Sawston Village College in Cambridgeshire. The contract began last month and will end in September 2029.
