NHS Commercial Solutions awards £1bn modular framework

NHS Commercial Solutions has named more than 40 firms to a new £1bn framework to deliver modular and prefabricated building solutions for public sector clients.

The four-year deal, awarded on 3 November, is divided into three lots: consultancy services, modular and prefabricated building works, and managed services.

The framework will support the delivery of temporary and permanent buildings across healthcare, education and other public facilities.

Clients will be able to procure a wide range of services, from design and project management to the construction and maintenance of offsite solutions.

Associated services, such as staffing and medical equipment management, are also included.

The largest portion of the work falls under Lot 2, which covers modular and prefabricated construction and has a maximum value of £600m.

Premier Modular, MTX Contracts and Reds10 are among 24 firms appointed to this lot.

Northumberland-based Merit Holdings is also named on Lot 2, although it filed for administration last month.

Most of the suppliers are based in the UK, though Austria’s Vamed Engineering and Dublin-based Vision Built Structures also secured places.

Lot 1, worth up to £150m, covers consultancy services including architecture, engineering, planning and surveying.

A total of 11 suppliers were appointed, including P+HS Architects, Tetra Tech and Avison Young.

The £300m Lot 3 is for managed services, combining consultancy and construction with the delivery of medical equipment, IT infrastructure and staffing.

Eight firms were named, including Vanguard Healthcare, GENMED ME and ModuleCo Healthcare.

The framework is open to NHS organisations, central government departments, local authorities, and educational bodies across the UK. It allows for both direct award and mini-competition.
