McLaren Living and Heim Global Investor have appointed Winvic as contractor on a £130m build-to-rent scheme in central Birmingham.

The development, named Oasis, will deliver 456 one- and two-bedroom homes on Kent Street, close to Birmingham’s cultural quarter.

It will also feature a gym, residents’ lounge, co-working areas, and external landscaping including a courtyard and terraces.

McLaren Living is acting as developer, with Winvic Construction appointed as contractor.

The scheme received planning permission in September 2022 and is being forward funded by Heim.

The partners previously teamed up on a 375-home build-to-rent scheme in Leeds’ South Bank, currently under construction and expected to complete in 2027.

Oasis will be built to Heim’s sustainability criteria, which helped its UK Residential Fund secure a five-star GRESB rating.

McLaren Living managing director Matthew Biddle said the scheme would enhance the company’s pipeline in key urban markets.

Heim director David Peacock said the investment aligned with the fund’s UK strategy.

The project sits within an area undergoing extensive regeneration. However, neither the client commissioning Winvic nor the architect for the scheme has been disclosed.
