Cardo Group continues acquisition spree with Trident deal

Cardo Group has acquired Scottish contractor Trident Maintenance Services as the Welsh firm continues its expansion drive across the UK.

The Cardiff-based building maintenance specialist said the deal would strengthen its position in Scotland and extend its footprint in the north of England. The transaction value was not disclosed.

Trident, which is headquartered in Glasgow and operates branches across the UK, delivers construction and property maintenance services to public and private sector clients.

Cardo has grown through a series of acquisitions and asset purchases in recent years, targeting maintenance and specialist subcontracting businesses (see below).

The purchase of Trident follows its recent acquisition of roofing contractor Faskin Group, which also operates in Scotland.

Cardo employs more than 950 operatives and specialists across offices in England and South Wales.

It said the acquisition would provide Trident with additional operational support and access to group infrastructure, while maintaining a local presence in Scotland.

According to Cardo’s accounts for the year to 28 February 2025, turnover rose 74 per cent to £145.2m.

The company attributed the increase to a combination of organic growth and mergers and acquisitions activity.

In December, Trident reported turnover of £18.4m for the year to 31 March 2025, up from £11.8m the previous year.
