One worker told <em>CN <\/em>that he thought they could be absent from the site for up to three months.<\/p>\n<p>In a joint statement today, the contractor and developer said: &#8220;R&amp;F Properties and Multiplex are working together to deliver One Nine Elms, with a programme of works continuing to take place on site, returning to full capacity shortly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We remain fully committed to jointly and successfully completing One Nine Elms, an exciting new destination in London.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Multiplex had not previously commented on any of the issues at the site.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, <em>CN <\/em>revealed that work <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/buildings\/major-works-stop-at-900m-one-nine-elms-site-07-02-2022\/\">had ceased<\/a> and subcontractors were only returning to site to collect their tools and materials, although a source close to R&amp;F claimed some work was continuing.<\/p>\n<p>Work at the job has been stopped before over payment issues. In 2019, the Technology and Construction Court ruled that Multiplex was entitled to down tools on the job after R&amp;F failed to pay it a bond worth \u00a315m.<\/p>\n<p>R&amp;F acquired the site in January 2018 from Chinese firm Wanda after it ran into financial difficulties. Last month, R&amp;F&#8217;s Hong Kong subsidiary was put into \u201cselective default\u201d after it agreed with its lenders to delay a $725m (\u00a3539m) debt repayment, according to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/europe\/chinas-rf-properties-hong-kong-arm-put-selective-default-by-sp-2022-01-13\/\">Reuters<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>One Nine Elms is one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/rf-properties-the-projects-backed-by-the-nine-elms-developer-08-02-2022\/\">three sites owned by R&amp;F<\/a> on Nine Elms, with the others being the nearby Thames City, where Mace and Midgard continue to work at pace, and Vauxhall Square, where Keltbray completed demolition in 2019 before work on the site was paused.
