Skanska has topped October\u2019s contractor league table with a single contract win \u2013 a \u00a3158m data-centre fit-out job.<\/p>\n

The firm will install electrical plant, air conditioning, ventilation, lifts and a roof gantry at Telehouse South in London\u2019s Docklands for data-centre provider Telehouse. Skanska previously carried out an early works package at the building.<\/p>\n

This marks the first time Skanska has taken the top monthly spot since April 2021, when it won a \u00a3507m job to upgrade the A428 between Milton Keynes and Cambridge. The firm did not feature among the top 50 contractors in September.<\/p>\n

Last month\u2019s table-topper Multiplex<\/a> dropped out of the top 50, while two large contract wins took Balfour Beatty to second place. The firm won a \u00a367.9m job to build a new mixed-use development in Edinburgh<\/a>, called the New Liberton Community Campus. It was also awarded \u00a343m to upgrade London Underground\u2019s Piccadilly Line.<\/p>\n

Balfour Beatty\u2019s bumper month also pushed it to the top of the rolling annual league table, replacing Morgan Sindall, which dropped down to second place. Balfour Beatty has won 53 contracts worth \u00a32.2bn since November 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Two contracts worth \u00a3130m were signed in October. One went to third-placed Bowmer & Kirkland, which was selected to build three student-accommodation towers containing 1,200 rooms in Manchester.<\/p>\n

McLaren scooped up the other \u00a3130m contract. The firm will refurbish Thirty High<\/a>, a 1960s tower in London\u2019s Victoria \u2013 a project with a total value of \u00a3400m.<\/p>\n

Bowmer & Kirkland also won a contract worth around \u00a35.3m, to fit out 100 Bristol Business Park for Babcock.<\/p>\n

Morgan Sindall picked up plenty of lower-value contracts in October, winning 31 jobs worth a combined total of \u00a3103m. The job-winning spree did not stop it from dropping four spots down the monthly league table to sit in seventh place.<\/p>\n

Farrans won the biggest civils contract this month \u2013 it was picked to deliver the first phase of the regeneration of Leeds Bradford Airport by building a terminal extension. The civil-engineering specialist entered the chart at eighth place.<\/p>\n

Kier, which dropped down the annual leagues last month having previously dominated the chart for nearly a year, clawed its way back up in October. The construction giant rose from sixth to third place, despite finishing ninth in the monthly league.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
