{"id":494001,"date":"2024-02-12T12:06:55","date_gmt":"2024-02-12T12:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/?p=494001"},"modified":"2024-02-12T12:06:55","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T12:06:55","slug":"willmott-dixon-wins-55m-police-hq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contracts\/willmott-dixon-wins-55m-police-hq-12-02-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Willmott Dixon wins \u00a355m police HQ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Willmott Dixon has won a \u00a355m contract to rebuild a police headquarters in Hertfordshire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The firm was appointed to demolish 11 buildings from the 1960s that are reaching the end of their design life, and replace them with an office complex for Hertfordshire Constabulary in Stanborough, Welwyn Garden City.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new development will house about 600 staff across 9,000 square metres, including the senior leadership team, major crime unit, victim services, dog unit and operational support staff.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The firm was procured by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire through the Scape Construction framework.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stewart Brundell, area managing director at Willmott Dixon, said: \u201cAs a proud Hertfordshire-based company, it is fantastic to be starting on site to provide a new facility for our county\u2019s police force.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe new HQ will provide Hertfordshire Constabulary\u2019s people with a sustainable, flexible working environment, which can be utilised for police and community groups as well.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The building, which Willmott Dixon aims to complete in 2026, is targeting a BREEAM excellent rating for sustainability and a WELL platinum certification for the building\u2019s contribution to health and wellbeing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new contract adds to Willmott Dixon\u2019s growing portfolio of work in the police sector. The contractor is currently working on a forensics centre for Thames Valley Police, as well as headquarters for the Dorset and Kirklees police forces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark Robinson, group chief executive at Scape, said: \u201cThe redevelopment of the headquarters of Hertfordshire Constabulary will provide a considerable boost to policing services in the area, bringing positive change and benefits to the local community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThrough our close working relationship with Willmott Dixon, we are dedicated to providing efficiency and cost savings throughout the project, alongside delivering social value for the public.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Willmott Dixon has won a \u00a355m contract to rebuild a police headquarters in Hertfordshire.
