Bam has won a \u00a333m deal to build a secondary school in Kent.<\/p>\n

The Dutch-owned contractor will construct a 750-pupil replacement facility for Orchards Academy in Swanley.<\/p>\n

The project will see Bam<\/a> deliver new classrooms along with indoor and outdoor sports spaces on the operational site of the existing school.<\/p>\n

Modular construction will be used to minimise disruption to the live school, with completion scheduled for summer 2026.<\/p>\n

Designed by Bond Bryan Architects, the new buildings will be split into teaching and sports blocks, and cater for diverse learning needs.<\/p>\n

Bam said the finished school would feature improved thermal efficiency, ample natural daylight, well-proportioned spaces, faculty adjacencies and integrated furniture and equipment.<\/p>\n

It will be designed to be net zero in operation. Key sustainability elements include 1,400 square meters of solar panels, a green roof and low-carbon structural concrete.<\/p>\n

Bam has delivered 675,000 square metres of education facilities in the past 15 years, to be used by more than 90,000 pupils.<\/p>\n

Construction manager Daniel Brenchley said: \u201cThe Orchard Academy will meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability design, aligning perfectly with our own mission of building a sustainable tomorrow.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe buildings\u2019 well-thought-out spaces, providing access to plenty of natural daylight, will create an environment supporting learning and growth for all learning needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce complete, the academy will also become an integral part of the community with the school\u2019s modern facilities offering a hub for local sports teams, organisations and the public.\u201d<\/p>\n
