Morris & Spottiswood has taken over completion of an \u00a38m distillery left unifinished when ISG Construction collapsed.<\/p>\n

Glasgow-headquartered Morris & Spottiswood revealed it had taken on the job in a statement, which said the location of the build \u201cpresents significant challenges due to its regular adverse weather and logistical constraints working on an island, with ferries only operating a few times per day, and with stiff competition for space onboard for supplies\u201d.<\/p>\n
Morris & Spottiswood group chief executive Jon Dunwell said former ISG workers on the project have been retained by the company, which was \u201csomething that the client on this project was particularly keen to see\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cThe collaborative effort to ensure continuity and protect the supply chain during this period of change is a testament to the partnership approach that is embedded at all levels in this project.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis incredibly challenging but rewarding build speaks to our ability as a company to serve businesses in the drinks sector, as well as the need to seamlessly integrate with client process contractors.\u201d<\/p>\n
Completion is expected towards the end of the year.<\/p>\n
In November, Morris & Spottiswood acquired fit-out business ISG Cathedral from the contractors\u2019 administrators, saving 111 jobs.<\/p>\n
At the time it said the deal would add \u201cup to \u00a3100m in revenue across the next 15 months\u201d and predicted its annual turnover would rise to \u00a3265m.<\/p>\n
ISG, which turned over \u00a32.2bn in 2022 and made a pre-tax profit of \u00a311.5m, went under after a long-running effort to sell the business broke down in September last year.<\/a> The contractor owed more than \u00a3300m to its supply chain, including \u00a3111m from its main fit-out arm<\/a>.<\/p>\n It employed more than 3,000 people in total.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Morris & Spottiswood has taken over completion of an \u00a38m distillery left unifinished when ISG Construction collapsed.
