{"id":523014,"date":"2025-06-19T12:45:43","date_gmt":"2025-06-19T11:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/?p=523014"},"modified":"2025-06-19T09:12:17","modified_gmt":"2025-06-19T08:12:17","slug":"isg-replaced-on-school-rebuild-job-nine-months-after-collapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/isg\/isg-replaced-on-school-rebuild-job-nine-months-after-collapse-19-06-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"ISG replaced on school rebuild job nine months after collapse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tilbury Douglas has replaced ISG on a project to rebuild a primary school in York.<\/p>\n<p>The contractor was named on the project nine months after progress fell silent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/administrations\/isg-uk-subsidiaries-apply-for-administration-19-09-2024\/\">when ISG went into administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/tilbury-douglas\/\">Tilbury Douglas<\/a> will now construct Tang Hall Primary School to the original specifications, after it received government funding back in July 2022. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/isg\/\">ISG<\/a> went under before it could start the construction job.<\/p>\n<p>Tang Hall Primary School did not include a project value, but construction data provider\u00a0<em>Glenigan\u00a0<\/em>estimates that the project received \u00a34.9m of public funding from the government.<\/p>\n<p>The rebuild project is set to start in January 2026, with plans to complete the project in autumn 2027. The school\u2019s current building, which was built in the 1920s, will be demolished.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe current school building no longer meets the needs of our students, staff or local community,\u201d a spokesperson for the Pathfinder Multi Academy Trust said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs well as being net carbon zero in operation, the new building will house classrooms, staff rooms, a nursery, library, offices, kitchen, hall, toilet facilities and store rooms all within a smaller footprint, allowing for much-needed outdoor space and facilities on the site.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new site will include an L-shaped, single-storey school building, and a new playing field and play area.<\/p>\n<p>It is the latest in a ream of projects that ISG has been replaced as main contractor on.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Pathfinder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/cn-intelligence\/sector\/education\/morgan-sindall-snaps-up-isg-school-job-02-06-2025\/\">appointed Morgan Sindall to finish an ISG job to rebuild Hempland<\/a> Primary School in Heworth, worth \u00a310m.<\/p>\n<p>In March, Graham took over a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/buildings\/graham-takes-over-former-isg-cultural-retrofit-job-13-03-2025\/\">former ISG project, worth \u00a344m, to turn a former retail<\/a> outlet into a cultural hub in Coventry.<\/p>\n<p>Not all of ISG\u2019s projects have been resurrected, though. Developer Blackstone and US-studio firm Hudson Pacific Properties <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/buildings\/ex-isg-film-studio-project-officially-scrapped-20-03-2025\/\">announced in March that they were scrapping a \u00a3700m<\/a> film studio project that ISG was initially appointed to.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tilbury Douglas has replaced ISG on a project to rebuild a primary school in York.
