A return to profit by Bam\u2019s UK construction arm has boosted the Dutch group\u2019s overall half-year performance.<\/p>\n

Bam\u2019s UK construction subsidiary posted an adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) of \u20ac8.1m (\u00a37m) on a revenue of \u20ac519m for the first half of 2025. That compared with an EBITDA loss of \u20ac15.3 in the same period last year.<\/p>\n

Revenue and EBITDA from Bam\u2019s UK civil engineering activities were also higher, with growth of 16.5 per cent and 3 per cent respectively. Bam\u2019s operations in Ireland brought in adjusted EBITDA of \u20ac15.7m in the first half, down from \u20ac19.3m in the same period in 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the division United Kingdom and Ireland, Construction UK returned to profitability, and recently Bam finalised the Co-op Live<\/a> project,\u201d said Ruud Joosten, chief executive of Royal Bam<\/a> Group. \u201cCivil engineering UK and Ireland continued to perform strongly.\u201d<\/p>\n

The depreciation of the British pound against the euro had a negative effect on the contribution of the UK operations to overall group earnings to the tune of \u20ac201m, the company said.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, overall, Bam\u2019s adjusted EBITDA margin for the first half for its total UK and Ireland division was 4 per cent, compared with 3.2 per cent in the first half of last year. The company\u2019s order book remained strong at \u20ac12.9bn, compared with \u20ac13.bn at the end of 2024.<\/p>\n

Looking forward, Bam\u2019s UK order book was 2 per cent higher than it was at the end of last year at \u20ac7.4bn. In its half-year report, the company cited recently won projects in the UK, including an electricity substation at Creag Dhubh, the refit of office building 20 Giltspur Street in London and a new school building for the Salesian Academy of St John Bosco.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Bam Ireland was awarded the M28 motorway between Cork to Ringaskiddy and the Higher Education Bundle two (HEB 2), which is a broad scheme to deliver state-of-the-art educational facilities across Ireland.<\/p>\n

The Royal Bam Group, which is headquartered in the Netherlands and was ninth in last year\u2019s CN100<\/a>, saw the EBITDA performance of its Dutch arm jump 57 per cent to \u20ac110.1m.<\/p>\n

As a group, Royal Bam\u2019s total revenue increased by 7 per cent to \u20ac3.4bn, which led to an adjusted EBITDA for the first half of 2025 of \u20ac176m, which itself reflected a group profit margin of 5.2 per cent, up from 4 per cent in the first six months of 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cRoyal Bam Group has delivered a strong performance in the first half-year,\u201d Joosten said. \u201cWe reported an adjusted EBITDA of \u20ac176m, 40 per cent higher versus the same period last year.<\/p>\n
