Morgan Sindall<\/a> chief executive John Morgan said it was \u201canother record half year\u201d for the contractor.<\/p>\n\u201cIn the period, we have continued to make significant strategic and operational progress across the group,\u201d he added. Cash was also up, at \u00a3390m compared with \u00a3351m in the same period last year.<\/p>\n
Morgan Sindall\u2019s half-year results pointed to a \u201csignificant and market-leading performance\u201d at its fit-out arm, where turnover was up by a third to \u00a3838m and operating profit increased by 41 per cent to \u00a358.1m.<\/p>\n
Morgan Sindall Construction also had a good six months, with operating profit up by 14 per cent to \u00a316.1m.<\/p>\n
The strong performance prompted Morgan Sindall to increase its medium-term targets for its fit-out and construction businesses.<\/p>\n
The firm now expects its fit-out arm to make an annual operating profit of between \u00a380m and \u00a3100m in the medium term, an increase from the previous expectations of between \u00a360m and \u00a385m.<\/p>\n
It said that was thanks to \u201cthe timing of projects in the order book and the current visibility\u201d.<\/p>\n
The contractor also increased its medium-term expectations for subsidiary Morgan Sindall Construction, from a revenue of more than \u00a31bn to more than \u00a31.5bn.<\/p>\n
That forecast is partly based on a decision to move the group\u2019s property services business into Morgan Sindall Construction from the beginning of 2026. In 2024, its property services business reported a revenue of \u00a3223m, according to its most recent results.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, Morgan Sindall said its order book stood at \u00a312bn, up on the \u00a38.7bn order book at the same time last year.<\/p>\n
It said the medium-term expectations for the fit-out sector were \u201cexpected to remain favourable\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201c[Those will be] supported by our UK construction and partnership programmes which would benefit from the recent government investment commitments announced in the first half of 2025,\u201d the contractor added.<\/p>\n
Last month, the government released its long-awaited 10-year \u00a3725bn infrastructure strategy<\/a>, which included plans to boost economic growth and upgrade road and rail services.
