{"id":526779,"date":"2025-08-12T12:52:58","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T11:52:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/?p=526779"},"modified":"2025-08-12T13:39:34","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T12:39:34","slug":"considerate-constructors-scheme-chair-departs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/peoplemoves\/considerate-constructors-scheme-chair-departs-12-08-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Considerate Constructors Scheme chair departs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two senior leaders have left the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Executive chair Amit Oberoi (pictured) and chief strategy officer Alex Minett have both departed the organisation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oberoi became non-executive chair in July 2022 and executive chair the following year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His directorship was terminated on Companies House this morning (12 August).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Minett took on his role, which was not a company director position, in January this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A CCS spokesperson said: \u201cWe can confirm that Amit Oberoi and Alex Minett are no longer employed by CCS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCCS continues to focus on its core strategic objective of raising standards in the construction industry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The firm would not comment on the reasons for the departures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Construction News<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> understands the scheme is currently being led by a managing director, Desiree Blamey, who has moved up from her previous role of partnerships director.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is unclear whether the organisation will recruit for a new executive chair, but it has closed applications after advertising for a replacement for the partnerships director position.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The not-for-profit body, which is ultimately owned by the Construction Products Association and Construction Industry Council, operates a voluntary scoring system for construction site standards and a public complaints service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its revenue model is built entirely around registration fees from participating entities (sites, companies and suppliers), making it self-financing and not dependent on external funding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to its latest accounts, the scheme made a loss of \u00a378,700 last year on a turnover of \u00a35.3m in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Directors\u2019 emoluments rose to \u00a3219,000, up from the \u00a384,200 paid out the previous year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/peoplemoves\/inconsiderate-outrage-as-considerate-constructors-scheme-dumps-monitors-10-06-2024\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, CCS made headlines after summarily axing 20 of its monitors \u2013 people carrying out inspections of registered sites.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oberoi said at the time that the high rate of insolvencies in the sector had hit the scheme\u2019s finances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The former executive chair, a previous director of Deloitte in Australia and a Lendlease manager, according to his LinkedIn profile, also joined the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity as a trustee in April but stood down in mid-July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A spokesperson for the charity told <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CN<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on Friday that they were unable to comment on the reason for this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oberoi has been approached for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two senior leaders have left the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS).
