{"id":527795,"date":"2025-08-28T09:01:21","date_gmt":"2025-08-28T08:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/?p=527795"},"modified":"2025-08-28T09:01:21","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T08:01:21","slug":"willmott-dixon-promotes-brundell-to-run-construction-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/willmott-dixon\/willmott-dixon-promotes-brundell-to-run-construction-business-28-08-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Willmott Dixon promotes Brundell to run construction business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"98\" data-end=\"214\">Willmott Dixon has appointed Stewart Brundell as chief operating officer (COO) of its \u00a31.01bn-turnover construction business.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"216\" data-end=\"404\">Brundell was previously managing director for the contractor\u2019s London &amp; East region.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"216\" data-end=\"404\">He replaces John Waterman, who stepped down from the COO role earlier this year after a decade in post.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"406\" data-end=\"702\">Brundell, who joined the business through its trainee scheme nearly 40 years ago, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/willmott-dixon\/\">Willmott Dixon\u2019s<\/a> first ever Trainee of the Year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"406\" data-end=\"702\">He will now lead the company\u2019s construction division, which recently delivered projects including Stockport Interchange and the restoration of the Bristol Beacon.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"406\" data-end=\"702\">Willmott Dixon chief executive officer Graham Dundas said Brundell\u2019s promotion underlined the company\u2019s succession planning and \u201ccreates the right platform for our next stage of growth\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"704\" data-end=\"1016\">London &amp; East delivery director Simon Ramage will take over Brundell\u2019s previous role following a short transition period.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"704\" data-end=\"1016\">Ramage, also a former Trainee of the Year, will initially serve as deputy MD before becoming regional managing director in January 2026.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"704\" data-end=\"1016\">He has spent nearly 30 years at the firm.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1018\" data-end=\"1283\">The reshuffle forms part of wider changes to \u00a31.2bn-turnover Willmott Dixon\u2019s construction leadership.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1018\" data-end=\"1283\">North managing director (MD) Anthony Dillon will take on a broader role focused on business growth, while Midlands MD Peter Owen will support operational delivery across the business.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1423\">In addition, Richard Cotter, a specialist in corporate growth and strategy, has joined the construction board as a non-executive director.<\/p>\n<p><em>Source: Wilmott Dixon announcement<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Willmott Dixon has appointed Stewart Brundell as chief operating officer (COO) of its \u00a31.01bn-turnover construction business.
