Galliford Try\u2019s shares reached a record value this morning after it was announced that the contractor would rejoin the FTSE 250.<\/p>\n

Shares in Galliford Try Holdings were trading at 508p at noon on Monday (29 September), up from 501p at 4.25pm on Friday (26 September).<\/p>\n

The spike represented the highest value for the firm\u2019s stock in the 10 years of data available on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) website.<\/p>\n

Index operator FTSE Russell announced on Friday that the contractor would be added to the FTSE 250, which comprises the 101st to 350th biggest listed companies by market capitalisation.<\/p>\n

It emerged this month<\/a> that Galliford Try had more than doubled its pre-tax profit to \u00a344.1m in the year to 30 June 2025. This meant the firm achieved a 3 per cent adjusted operating margin a year ahead of its target.<\/p>\n

Turnover at the UK\u2019s 11th biggest contractor<\/a> also inched up to \u00a31.9bn and marked a fifth consecutive year of revenue growth, according to its accounts.<\/p>\n

Galliford Try plc delisted its ordinary shares on the LSE at the start of 2020 after selling its housebuilding interests to Bovis<\/a>, now Vistry, for more than \u00a31bn.<\/p>\n

Galliford Try Holdings plc was admitted to the stock exchange at the same time.<\/p>\n

From 1 October, the company<\/a> will join fellow tier one contractors Balfour Beatty, Morgan Sindall and Kier on the FTSE 250 list.<\/p>\n

Many institutional investment funds track the index so have to buy shares in new entrants to maintain their portfolios. Raising capital can become easier for firms on the list.<\/p>\n

Richard Hunter, head of markets at investment-management platform Interactive Investor, said the promotion to the FTSE 250 also came with a degree of \u201ckudos\u201d that could benefit Galliford Try.<\/p>\n

He added that the latest development suggests the company \u201chas some momentum\u201d, and noted that its share price had risen by almost two-thirds in a year, \u201cagainst the tide\u201d of the wider industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
