Seventynine Lighting, which went into administration a year ago shortly after being hit by the collapse of ISG, has now gone into liquidation.<\/p>\n

The Gloucestershire-based subcontractor owed more than \u00a32m when it went under in October 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mark Boughey and Rebecca Dacre of Forvis Mazars, who were appointed as the company\u2019s administrators, have now been appointed as liquidators.<\/p>\n

At the time of Seventynine Lighting\u2019s collapse, they said the \u00a311m-turnover firm owed \u00a32.1m to creditors, which included the firm\u2019s former employees, directors and HMRC.<\/p>\n

Trade creditors were owed \u00a31.8m for work carried out on ISG<\/a> sites, according to Seventynine Lighting\u2019s statement of affairs.<\/p>\n

The firm was established in 2006. Before its demise, it had specialised in retail and office fit-out projects, including for Monsoon, Selfridges, Regus and Bupa.<\/p>\n

In its most recent accounts for the year to 31 May 2023, the company turned over \u00a310.7m and made a pre-tax profit of \u00a3665,700.<\/p>\n

But ISG\u2019s fall sounded the death knell for Seventynine Lighting, because it was owed the money by ISG and most of its work was on the contractor\u2019s sites.<\/p>\n

At the time it went into administration, Boughey said: \u201cAlthough Seventynine Lighting has historically been a profitable and successful business, its sudden insolvency is unfortunately not an uncommon occurrence in the construction industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is estimated that ISG\u2019s supply chain has suffered a \u00a3885m hit from the tier one firm\u2019s collapse in September last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Difficulties recouping funds from ISG left \u201can exposure of \u00a33.8m\u201d at Yorkshire-based Ivegate, according to the firm\u2019s accounts for the 2024 calendar year<\/a>. Ivegate\u2019s managing director Andrew Hudson said the year was \u201cmore challenging than anticipated with the demise of ISG\u201d.<\/p>\n

In August, Hensall Mechanical Services revealed ISG\u2019s collapse had forced it to make a \u201csubstantial gross write-off\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pre-tax profit at the M&E specialist, which is based in the Yorkshire village of Eggborough, fell from \u00a32.6m to \u00a3952,000 in the year to 31 December 2024.<\/p>\n

Managing director Chris Bond said at the time the events at ISG had \u201cdirectly contributed\u201d to a 40 per cent decline in turnover from \u00a335.5m to \u00a321.1m.<\/p>\n

And in published accounts released in May, Taylor Made Joinery Interiors said it had been forced to reevaluate its business strategy<\/a> and that ISG\u2019s downfall had been the \u201cmost significant risk\u201d of 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
