{"id":533853,"date":"2025-12-02T10:50:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T10:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/?p=533853"},"modified":"2025-12-02T10:50:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T10:50:12","slug":"kier-appoints-new-finance-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/kier\/kier-appoints-new-finance-chief-02-12-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Kier appoints new finance chief"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"text-base my-auto mx-auto pb-10 [--thread-content-margin:--spacing(4)] thread-sm:[--thread-content-margin:--spacing(6)] thread-lg:[--thread-content-margin:--spacing(16)] px-(--thread-content-margin)\">\n<div class=\"[--thread-content-max-width:40rem] thread-lg:[--thread-content-max-width:48rem] mx-auto max-w-(--thread-content-max-width) flex-1 group\/turn-messages focus-visible:outline-hidden relative flex w-full min-w-0 flex-col agent-turn\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n<div class=\"flex max-w-full flex-col grow\">\n<p>Kier Group has appointed Tom Hinton as its next chief financial officer, replacing Simon Kesterton, who will step down at the end of December after six years in the role.<\/p>\n<p>Hinton (pictured), who is currently interim chief executive at logistics firm Wincanton, will take up the position from January.<\/p>\n<p>He previously served as Wincanton\u2019s CFO from 2022-25 and held senior financial roles at Infinis Energy and Domestic &amp; General.<\/p>\n<p>Chief executive Stuart Togwell said Hinton\u2019s background in financial strategy, cost management and capital allocation would help support Kier\u2019s growth ambitions.<\/p>\n<p>Kesterton joined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/kier\/\">Kier<\/a> in August 2019 during a period of restructuring under then-chief executive Andrew Davies, overseeing a balance sheet recovery along with major IT and procurement changes.<\/p>\n<p>His previous roles included group finance director at plastics firm RPC Group (2013-19) and executive roles at automotive components supplier IAC Group (2006-12).<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cI\u2019m incredibly proud of what we\u2019ve achieved at Kier and for restoring trust and confidence in the Group. After six great years, and working with such a fantastic team, the time feels right to pass the baton and to move on to my next challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kesterton was the fifth-highest paid person in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/sections\/long-reads\/features\/the-mixed-fortunes-of-constructions-highest-paid-executives-29-10-2025\/\">latest <em>Construction News <\/em>executive pay table<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He earned \u00a3542,000 in basic pay last year plus more than \u00a32m in bonuses and other renumeration, resulting in a total package of \u00a32.6m.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/civils\/kiers-order-book-hits-11-6bn-13-11-2025\/\">trading update last month<\/a>, \u00a34.1bn-turnover Kier said it had secured 94 per cent of estimated revenue for the current financial year, with an order book of around \u00a311.6bn as of 30 June.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1341\" data-end=\"1510\"><em>Source: Kier announcement<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kier Group has appointed Tom Hinton as its next chief financial officer, replacing Simon Kesterton, who will step down at the end of December after six years in the role.
