Stewart Milne\u2019s administration process could take up to three years following an extension.<\/span><\/p>\n

The housebuilder was set to exit administration this month, but administrators at Teneo in December extended the process by a further year, to 7 January 2027.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company<\/span> went under in January 2024<\/span><\/a> after several failed attempts to sell the business by chair and founder Stewart Milne. The Scottish housebuilder also blamed a downturn in the housing market for its demise.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is not clear why Teneo extended the process. At the time of publication, the administrators had not responded to a request for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an earlier update, Teneo revealed that unsecured creditors \u2013 including the supply chain \u2013 were set to miss out on \u00a340.4m owed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stewart Milne<\/span> listed debts of \u00a3153.8m to the supply chain<\/span><\/a> in its statement of affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n

But Teneo only received claims of \u00a340.4m, which it said was \u201cprimarily driven by intercompany creditor balances for other entities that are in administration\u201d, where other Stewart Milne companies have not submitted claims.<\/span><\/p>\n

Teneo also said the lower volume could be due to a \u201cnumber of unsecured creditors not submitting claims in the administrations, given that we have stated in previous reports that it is unlikely that funds will become available to make a distribution to unsecured creditors\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

It confirmed that it does not expect to make a dividend to the unsecured creditors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Teneo has also received claims from 198 former Stewart Milne staff members \u2013 and it expects to receive claims worth \u00a3268,000. More than 200 former staff<\/span> won a payout in August<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Teneo expects to be able to pay out some money to the former staff.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bank of Scotland has also made a claim for \u00a3115m. So far, Teneo has paid out \u00a310.5m, but it hinted that more could follow, depending on the value of Stewart Milne\u2019s remaining assets.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, it said it did not expect to pay the full debt to the bank.<\/span><\/p>\n

In August 2024, Homes England<\/span> recovered more than \u00a39m it lent to Stewart Milne<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Founded in 1975, the business had a turnover of \u00a3172.4m in the year to 31 October 2022, posting a pre-tax profit of \u00a316.5m.<\/span><\/p>\n

The results were a turnaround from successive loss-making years that included a \u00a313.1m pre-tax loss in 2021, a \u00a371.5m deficit in 2020 and a \u00a348.5m loss in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
