Underlying work (less than \u00a3100m in value) starting on-site during the three months to December increased 58 per cent against the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted (SA) basis, to stand 1 per cent down compared with last year\u2019s levels. No major projects were present during the period, unchanged against the preceding three months and previous year.<\/p>\n<p>Main contract awards totalled \u00a3269m during the period, an 8 per cent rise on the preceding three months to stand 17 per cent down on 2024 levels. Underlying contract awards increased 48 per cent (SA) against the preceding three months and faced a 17 per cent decrease compared with last year\u2019s levels. There was an absence of major projects during the period, unchanged against the preceding three months and previous year.<\/p>\n<p>Totalling \u00a3478m, detailed planning approvals rose 42 per cent against the preceding three months to stand 23 per cent lower than the previous year. Underlying detailed planning approvals in Northern Ireland increased 3 per cent (SA) against the preceding three months, to stand 23 per cent down against the previous year. There was an absence of major projects during the period, unchanged against the preceding three months and previous year.<\/p>\n<h3>Sector analysis: project starts<\/h3>\n<p>Private Housing was the most active sector for project-starts in Northern Ireland. The value of starts totalled \u00a3143m, with the sector having accounted for 38 per cent of the total value. The sector experienced a 458 per cent rise against the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>Social Housing at \u00a364m accounted for the second largest share of starts, with the sector accounting for 17 per cent of the total value.
