{"id":538256,"date":"2026-02-16T12:45:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T12:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/?p=538256"},"modified":"2026-02-16T17:42:32","modified_gmt":"2026-02-16T17:42:32","slug":"kitemark-reinstated-on-14-thomas-dudley-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/supply-chain\/kitemark-reinstated-on-14-thomas-dudley-products-16-02-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Kitemark reinstated on 14 Thomas Dudley products"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A UK construction product manufacturer has reclaimed the right to display quality Kitemarks on 14 products, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Construction News <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can reveal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thomas Dudley, a \u00a371.2m-turnover firm that supplies cast iron, plumbing, casting, utilities and drainage products, successfully acquired a new mark of quality after British Standards Institution (BSI) approval.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CN<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0reported in April 2025 that the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/supply-chain\/manufacturer-loses-kitemark-on-14-products-after-foundry-probe-30-04-2025\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BSI had removed its Kitemark<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in light of Thomas Dudley having used an unaudited overseas foundry in Howrah, India, for production.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a statement sent last week to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CN, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the BSI said Thomas Dudley has been \u201cawarded a new Kitemark licence number\u201d after \u201cthe successful completion of our standard, rigorous process\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cUnder Thomas Dudley Ltd\u2019s previous Kitemark licence, products manufactured in compliance with the scheme prior to the cancellation of the Kitemark licence were inspected, and controlled batch releases were approved,\u201d it added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBSI\u2019s priority throughout has been to ensure that all certified products placed on the market continue to meet the relevant standards and certification requirements.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thomas Dudley had said last year that only 14 of the 385 products in its stock-keeping unit were affected.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a statement, the firm said the withdrawal of the Kitemark was caused by \u201ca procedural oversight relating to the listing of a new supply site\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhile the withdrawal sparked rumours around product performance, the reality was clear: the issue was administrative, not technical,\u201d it said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAt no point was product quality in question.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It added that it has ensured a \u201crobust, transparent and industry-leading effort to demonstrate that quality remains at the heart of the company\u2019s operations\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The manufacturer had offered full refunds for any affected stock returned after the Kitemark was removed.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A UK construction product manufacturer has reclaimed the right to display quality Kitemarks on 14 products, Construction News can reveal.
