{"id":538269,"date":"2026-02-17T12:57:54","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T12:57:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/?p=538269"},"modified":"2026-02-17T14:16:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T14:16:21","slug":"fk-group-names-administrators-54-jobs-saved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/fk-group-names-administrators-54-jobs-saved-17-02-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"FK Group names administrators, 54 jobs saved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A major envelope specialist and two of its subsidiaries have gone into administration, citing \u201cinflationary pressures\u201d and challenges post-Covid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BTG, formerly known as Begbies Traynor Group, announced on Tuesday that two of its staff have been appointed as administrators for holding company FK Group Ltd plus FK Construction Ltd and FK Facades Ltd.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All three firms had originally filed their notice of intention to appoint administrators on 19 January and extended the period on 2 February.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">David Hopkins and Paul Stanley of BTG have now been appointed as joint administrators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a statement, BTG said the company directors had made the decision after \u201cexperiencing significant inflationary pressures post-Covid, amongst other challenges\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BTG said 57 people have been made redundant, but a further 54 employees have been transferred \u2013 alongside relevant contracts \u2013 to Keenan Holdings, an aluminium and glazing manufacturer and installer based at the same address as the other companies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BTG partner David Hopkins said: \u201cThis is a significant restructuring of the group\u2019s assets and operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe directors of the group explored a number of avenues prior to this decision and established that this was the best route forward for all stakeholders, creditors and the future of the group.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAs part of this restructuring process, we will be focused on delivering the best outcome for all creditors. This will include realising the group\u2019s assets for the benefit of creditors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe leadership of the group were focused on delivering the best possible outcome for all creditors, and the jobs of a number of employees, together with certain contracts they were working on, have been able to continue under a new name.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe hope that the skilled employees that were made redundant before our appointment are able to find new roles soon, as their talents are much needed as the industry seeks to fulfil building targets and housing demand.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FK Group, which has been in business since 1979, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/cn-specialists-index-2025-top-10-envelope-contractors-01-12-2025\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ranked fourth<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the latest CN Specialists Index of building envelope firms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Construction News <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/administrations\/major-envelope-specialist-fk-group-files-administration-notices-22-01-2026\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">previously reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that Cheshire-based FK Group had been affected by industry challenges such as building safety regime delays and an ongoing unspecified legal issue related to collapsed tier one contractor ISG.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its most recent accounts showed it suffered a \u00a35.9m pre-tax loss in the year to 31 March 2024, after turnover dropped by 23 per cent to \u00a3100.6m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the same period, FK Construction \u2013 its main contracting division \u2013 reported a pre-tax loss of \u00a37.5m after its turnover halved and it booked \u00a35.5m of exceptional items related to the legal dispute with ISG.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FK Facades, which provides curtain walling and rainscreen solutions, reported a pre-tax profit of \u00a31.2m on a turnover of \u00a357.2m in the same period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All three firms should have filed their 2024\/25 accounts by 31 December last year.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A major envelope specialist and two of its subsidiaries have gone into administration, citing \u201cinflationary pressures\u201d and challenges post-Covid.
